The 3-Point Contest at 2023 NBA All-Star Saturday Night did not disappoint.
As in years past, the 2023 contest featured eight contestants competing in two rounds, with the top three contestants from the first round advancing to the finals.
After a big man took the crown last year, Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard captured the 3-point contest title for the first time in his career, getting the win with a score of 26 in the final round, edging out Buddy Hield and Tyrese Haliburton.

9:36 p.m. —Damian Lillard takes it home! With a score of 26 in the final round, Lillard becomes the first player in Trail Blazers history to win the 3-point contest.
As a sweetener, Lillard does it wearing a Weber State uniform, taking home the 3-point contest hardware less than an hour away from where he attended college.

9:33 p.m. —What's pressure to Damian Lillard?
Lillard sinks each of his last four shots to finish with 26 points in the Finals, edging Buddy Hield by one point.
Tyrese Haliburton will be the last to go.
9:30 p.m. —After turning in the lowest score in Round 1, Buddy Hield is the first participant to go in the Finals.
Hield gets hot late and turns in a score of 25, putting pressure on the next two finalists.
Damian Lillard will be the next to go up.
9:25 p.m. —The Finals are set.
Sporting his college uniform, Damian Lillard enters the top three with a score of 26, the second-highest of the night. Lillard (26), Tyrese Haliburton (31) and Buddy Hield (23) will compete for the 3-point crown.
9:13 p.m. —We're halfway through the first round and Tyler Herro has been eliminated with a score of 16.
Jayson Tatum is barely hanging on with a score of 19 and Tyrese Haliburton leads the way with 31. As a reminder, the top three scores will advance to the finals.
Four contestants have yet to go.
9:09 p.m. —Tyrese Haliburton was the second contestant to go and he set a high bar, scoring 31 points in the first round thanks in large part to his connecting on six of seven money balls and both of his "Starry Range" shots.

Haliburton has essentially clinched a spot in the finals.

What time does the NBA All-Star 3-Point Contest start?

The 3-Point Contest is the second event of All-Star Saturday Night from Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City. It will begin after the conclusion of the Skills Challenge, which will start at 8 p.m. ET.
NBA All-Star 3-Point Contest format
The eight 3-Point Contest participants will shoot at the typical five locations along the arc with four racks of four regular balls (one point) and one money ball (two points), plus one special rack of five money balls. Players can choose their favorite spots for the money ball racks.
Two "Starry Range" spots will sit well beyond the 3-point line. Each spot holds one white ball worth three points.
The contest is separated into two rounds with the three highest-scoring players from the first round advancing to the final round. The player with the highest score in the final round will be crowned the winner.
