Why does Okabe call himself Hououin Kyouma? ›

Being melodramatic, he likes to introduce himself by his "true name" "Hououin Kyouma". People usually ignore this alias and instead address him by his actual name or by 'Okarin' (his nickname), much to his chagrin.

It is set in 2010 and follows Rintaro Okabe, who together with his friends accidentally discovers a method of time travel through which they can send text messages to the past, thereby changing the present. It is part of the Science Adventure franchise along with Chaos;Head and Robotics;Notes.

Other instances of Reading Steiner could be described as Okabe's experience of his surroundings being reconstructed. But in this case the reconstruction took place some time earlier, and all that happens from Okabe's perspective is that his memories of the previous world line overwrite his memories on the new one.

Steins;Gate 0 and the movie build on the established foundation and go into more depth regarding Okabe's decisions and their consequences. It's a series with little to no filler so it's advised you watch the show in the above order without skipping ahead.

Okabe is just a paranoid schizophrenic and everything we see is just a product of his incredibly elaborate delusions. This is what most sane people would think upon listening to him and it makes sense if you think about it.

The earlier plot twists were predictable. There is less comedy and some of the drama are nonsense. I believe some of the early episodes were even filler. However, that is our mistake; steins gate isn't about the plot twists, is about the suffering that comes with time travel.

The message of not giving up, being hopeful, and always looking for the best option no matter how impossible it may seem.
