It is with mixed emotions that I announce I will be leaving Centene Corporation after almost 8 years. Yesterday, I received the unfortunate announcement that I along with many of my colleagues, are being laid off. While this is not a great place to be in, I am also optimistic about what the next step of my career holds. If you have any connections with anyone in need of a talented nurse with experience with implementations, process improvement, clinical IT, and coding please feel free to reach out. I would love to connect.

Shima, after working with you and seeing how you work, I was also shocked to see you were laid off. Centene’s loss will be another company’s lucky gain. You stand out as being someone very proactive and willing to make sure you get it right. I hope you find something that makes you happy and you’ll have my thoughts and prayers on your side. Let me know if you need anything.

I'm pleased to share that, this upcoming Monday, I'll be joining Humana to work on the innovation portfolio for Medicaid members. After a 6 month job search, I'm relieved to have found a team, company, and role that I'm excited about.I'm very, very grateful for all of the people that reached out to share ideas, offer connections, and provide support. Being laid off isn't easy, and it was made way easier by everyone that helped. Some fun stats:- Total apps: 293 (140 rejections, 25 interview requests, 51 closures, 77 pending)- Total interviews: 54- Most interviews in a week: 7- Longest interview process: 6 steps over 4 months and 3 days- Fastest rejection: 2 hours- Slowest rejection (so far): 4 months, 3 days- Coffee spend: $95.79- Walks: 240

Well. Well. Well. Mr. Witty took a little trip to the White House, and suddenly, UnitedHealth Group is offering some real dollars. This money is attached to the same repayment terms and restrictions (I seriously just said the words "terms and conditions apply.") I have to think carefully about this. Since we have already accepted their original $4,000, I am not sure that accepting this amount will worsen our legal position. 10 days ago, I would not have had a choice. But, thanks to Aledade, Inc., we are ok for right now. Emotionally, I want to tell them they can keep it (in much more colorful language), but logically, it is a game-changing amount of money--covers our next payroll with some left over. EDITED: It took me about 30 minutes and two conversations with people I trust to realize I MUST take this money. If nothing else, it allows my unstoppable team (including my 79 year-old mom, to breathe a little.)#cyberattack #optum #changehealthcare

Local news in Redlands reported Beaver Medical Group once it was bought by Optum laid off significant number of longstanding employees as well as physicians without any warning. This article talks about some executives being laid off, but the bigger issues is that non-professional supporting staffs are being laid off impacting their livelihood and local economy. When CMS discuss Value Care Medicine, it should not be about increasing value of the company but about patient care. United healthcare is to monopolize every layer of healthcare business from the Healthplans, Pharmacy Benefit Management, managing groups and even physicians. And all the other ones are following such Aetna-CVS. Guarantee individual healthcare cost will go up, cost of medications will go up and there will be less and less physicians to take of the patients.

UnitedHealthcare is trying to cut down on costly emergency room visits, but the company's tactics are facing a lot of pushback. (This is short ad, then the news cast will play) Why would UHC look to a member's self diagnosis as the best solution for cost savings? According to Google "UnitedHealth Group's 2022 revenues grew $36.6 billion or 13% year-over-year to$324.2 billionwith double digit growth at bothOptumand UnitedHealthcare, driven primarily by serving more people and by serving them more comprehensively" That doesn't seem to align with penalizing members for an emergency room visit that another physican, who is likely not familar with the case, decides is not an emergency. I think an emergency is much more subjective than this. Not a good solution UHC. #unitedhealthcare #membershipbenefits #healthplans

UnitedHealth Group’s recently reported earnings report reflected $5.8 billion in net earnings in Q3 alone - up 11 percent year over year (YoY).Released October 13th, their earnings report reflected double-digit growth in revenue year over year across UnitedHealthcare and Optum.Total revenues in the third quarter were $92.4 billion, up 14 percent YoY.These numbers powerfully contrast with shrinking provider profit margins and reflect the imbalance between the two systems. It’s time to level the playing field to ensure healthcare’s accessibility.Review the Q3 report: https://lnkd.in/gMumMxca#payers #healthcare #healthinsurance

Celebrating my 1-month work anniversary & feeling thankful for this #workmilestone with Boston Medical Center (BMC) and the #Populationhealth team. Here is what I have seen stand out in the past 30 days:-The cohesive and engaged team that I interviewed with continues to be the team that shows up and inspires with a trifecta of knowledge, passion and commitment to #innovation and #healthcare-Significant investment in #integratedbehavioralhealth in primary care, #accountablecare with strong #behavioralhealth drivers and thoughtful analytics around intersection of #evidencebasedcare and #value in a #totalcostofcare landscape-Seeing and feeling the commitment to #DEI so much so that I volunteered and learned today I was selected to co-chair a DEI initiative focused on the #teamculture and norms with emphasis on #psychologicalsafety and #burnout - key areas of my passion that align with the organization's mission and vision. How could this be any better? Learning and growing while doing what I love with like-minded people #BMCproud
