New license plate unveiled OHIO BIRTHPLACE OF AVIATION :000000 WILDLIFE An Ohio Wildlife License Plate design now is available as introduced by the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles and the Division of Wildlife of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. The state's newest license plate features a cardinal, Ohio's official bird. It is available at all 214 deputy registrar offices in Ohio. The plate is red, gold and blue and costs $25 per set of two, plus the additional registration fee. Fifteen dollars of the cost goes to the division's Wildlife Diversity Fund.

Leroy Bloomberg, M.D., medical director of the Bloomberg Eye Center in Newark, taught three courses at the American College of Eye Surgeons Quality Surgery XI meeting held in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Bloomberg chaired a symposium on glaucoma and delivered two presentations on innovative surgical techniques that he has developed for patients who have glaucoma. One technique is for patients who have glaucoma and also require cataract surgery. The other technique is for patients who are unable to be controlled on medical therapies or through laser intervention. Bloomberg also was invited to present a paper on topical anesthesia utilizing the patented Bloomberg Ophthalmic Ring.

This technique now is being used by surgeons around the world for giving safer, more comfortable anesthesia for many different types of eye surgery, a release from Bloomberg said. Bloomberg has offices in Newark and Columbus. He is board-certified by the American Academy of Ophthalmology and is certified in the subspecialty field of cataract and lens implant surgery by the American Board of Eye Surgery. He is serving a second term on the board of directors for the American Board of Eye Surgery, a national organization that is the only certifying board of surgical skills.
