The Jacksonville Jaguars traveled to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 4 of the NFL season, matching two of the NFL's hottest teams in the opening month and marking Doug Pederson's return to the franchise that he led to its first-ever Super Bowl title five years ago.
Philadelphia enteredthe weekend as the NFC's lone 3-0 team and the highest-ranking offense in the league, averaging nearly 450 yards per game. That was a formidable challenge for a Jaguars defense that has been forcing turnovers in bunches, almost matching its 2021 season total within the first three weeks.
Fans expected to see plenty of highlights of Philadelphia's upset of the Patriots in Super Bowl LII, the golden moment in Pederson's coaching career and the highlight of the Eagles' 89-year history.
Also in the Sunday spotlight: quarterback. It was Clemson vs. Alabama (with a later stop at Oklahoma), the Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence against the Eagles' Jalen Hurts, and a rematch of a game that both QBs will remember well. Lawrence led the Tigers to the national title after the 2019 season by throwing for 347 yards in a 44-16 win over the Crimson Tide, while Hurts spent most of that game on the bench behind current Miami Dolphins starter Tua Tagovailoa.
The Jaguars trto defeat an NFC opponent for the first time since topping the New York Giants in 2018.

3:52 p.m. | Two-minute warning
The Jaguars have burned their timeouts, and Miles Sanders and the Eagles have burned most of the clock. Philadelphia leads 29-21 with fourth down coming, and if Jake Elliott converts a coming field goal, it'll be a two-score game with two minutes to play.
3:40 p.m. | Touchdown Jaguars: Jamal Agnew scores as Jags show signs of life
That's what the Jaguars needed. Trevor Lawrence and Christian Kirk finally connect on a deep pass behind the secondary for a gain of 45. That set up Jamal Agnew for his second touchdown today, spinning into the end zone from 8 yards out after a pass into the flat.
There's still time for the Jaguars. That long pass revived Jaguars hopes after two more drops by Kirk and Marvin Jones early in the possession.
Eagles 29, Jaguars 21, 7:19 4th.
3:34 p.m. | Touchdown Eagles: Miles Sanders scores after turnover
Philadelphia makes the Jaguars pay. Jalen Hurts finds DeVonta Smith to convert third down, and three plays later, it's Miles Sanders into the end zone for the 5-yard score.
Just 90 minutes ago, the Jaguars led this game 14-0 and almost had a 21-0 edge. Now? They're behind by 15 and struggling mightily to hold the football.

3:26 p.m. | Strip-sack: Trevor Lawrence fumbles, Haason Reddick recovers for Eagles
That's turnover number four from the Jaguars' second-year quarterback. Haason Reddick blasts past Jawaan Taylor at right tackle, strips Trevor Lawrence and recovers the ball himself at the Jacksonville 24. This one is getting out of hand for the Jags.
3:20 p.m. | Field goal: Jake Elliott boots Eagles into a two-score edge
The Eagles weren't able to turn the penalty into a touchdown. Dallas Goedert dropped a third-down pass that could have kept the drive going or scored outright.
Jake Elliott came on again for a 28-yard field goal, and he converted it again, leaving the Jaguars behind by nine points.
Eagles 23, Jaguars 14, 13:42 4th.
3:15 p.m. | END OF THIRD QUARTER: Eagles 20, Jaguars 14
Philadelphia is on the march once again. Miles Sanders took a handoff all the way to midfield, after inside linebacker Foye Oluokun took an ineffective line to a run up the middle. Then Roy Robertson-Harris got flagged for facemasking the Eagles' Trey Sermon, moving the ball inside the 25.
But the Jaguars' defense put the brakes on Philadelphia's march. Dawuane Smoot sacked Jalen Hurts on third down, setting up a 43-yard field goal attempt by Jake Elliott.Elliott made the field goal, but the Jaguars' Tyson Campbell roughed the kicker, and Philadelphia elected to take the three points off the board and extend the drive on offense.
Philadelphia will have first and 10 at the 13 when the teams change ends.
3:05 p.m. | Interception: Third Trevor Lawrence turnover ends Jaguars drive
It's a better march for the Jaguars - until the ending. Trevor Lawrence connected for a long-awaited first down to Evan Engram, then threw to JaMycal Hasty on a screen pass to advance across midfield. A holding penalty on the Eagles helped the Jaguars out, too.
But Lawrence uncorked his third turnover of the game, a telegraphed out pattern to Christian Kirk that was gleefully gobbled up by James Bradberry of the Eagles. That's a red-zone interception, and it halts the Jaguars' best drive since the first quarter.
2:55 p.m. | Adam Gotsis breaks up pass on third down, halts Philly drive
That's better from the Jaguars' defense. It's a three-and-out, with Adam Gotsis swatting down Jalen Hurts' pass in the line on third down. The Jaguars will take over from their own 25, trailing 20-14 in the third quarter.
2:48 p.m. | Out-of-rhythm Jaguars go three-and-out
The Jaguars' offense still isn't clicking after halftime. Trevor Lawrence got sacked on first down, Christian Kirk couldn't catch a second-down pass after a deflection and Lawrence missed with an underthrow on third down.
2:44 p.m. | Jacksonville defense gets early stop on Eagles
The Jaguars needed that. Philadelphia started with a gain of 22 on Jalen Hurts' pass to A.J. Brown, but the pass rush stepped up. Josh Allen drove the left tackle back into Hurts to force a sack, then the pressure forced a throwaway and Hurts' third-and-20 pass came up well short.

The Jaguars go on defense needing to turn things around after a second period in which Jalen Hurts, Miles Sanders and the Eagles pretty much moved the football at will.

Great first quarter for the Jaguars. Dismal second quarter. There's work to do for Doug Pederson and his staff at the break in a soggy Philadelphia.
2:22 p.m. | Touchdown Eagles: Kenneth Gainwell TD pushes Philly in front
An open-field tackle by Travon Walker on Miles Sanders stopped what could have been a big gain, and a pack of Jaguars denied Sanders on third-and-short inside the Jacksonville 20. But Jalen Hurts went back to the quarterback sneak to convert fourth down for the third time today.
From there, the Eagles' line carved open a massive hole and Kenneth Gainwell took it to the end zone from 10 yards out. The Jaguars are suddenly behind.

2:12 p.m. | Trevor Lawrence fumbles snap, Eagles recover
Ball security, ball security, ball security. It's derailing the Jaguars in the second quarter.
Another drop on first down, another fumble on third. Travis Etienne took a draw up the middle for 9yards, but short of the first down. Then Trevor Lawrence failed to grasp the snap on a third-down sneak, and Haason Reddick recovered for Philly at the Jacksonville 35.
2:07 p.m. | Touchdown: Miles Sanders ties game for Eagles as ground game takes command
The Eagles are now exploiting holes in the Jaguars' run defense, and this game is tied. Running back Miles Sanders picked up a couple of solid gains right up the middle to advance the football into Jacksonville territory. Jalen Hurts then converted a third down on a quarterback sneak.
Trey Sermon then bounced a run outside to rush inside the 15, and two plays later Sanders took a handoff to the right and followed his blocks to the end zone from 9 yards. A lot of things for Jaguars defensive coordinator Mike Caldwell to clean up on the run defense after that drive.
Eagles 14, Jaguars 14, 3:55 2nd.
2 p.m. | Drops plague Jags on three-and-out drive
Drops are causing some problems for the Jaguars. Christian Kirk and Tim Jones dropped consecutive passes that were a bit off-target but catchable, and the result is a quick three-and-out.
1:51 p.m. | Touchdown: Eagles on board with Jalen Hurts fourth-down score
A defensive holding flag on Shaq Griffin extended that drive, and Jalen Hurts and the Eagles took advantage for points.First came a pass over the middle to A.J. Brown into Jacksonville territory, then a tight end screen to Dallas Goedert for a gain of 26.
The Eagles thought they had a TD when Brown took a short pass to the end zone, but Goedert was whistled for offensive pass interference. That backed them up, but Hurts scrambled to the 3, and on fourth down, Hurts lunged to the end zone and broke the plane before a massive hit by Devin Lloyd jarred the ball loose.
Jaguars 14, Eagles 7, 9:13 2nd.
1:42 p.m. | Fumble: Trevor Lawrence loses handle, Jaguars' drive ends
More Jamal Agnew time. He took a short pass for a first down in Eagles territory, then turned a Philadelphia DB inside-out with a great route on a downfield pass that probably should have led to a touchdown. Trevor Lawrence got just a little too much on the throw.
But that wasn't Lawrence's only mistake on this drive. The Jaguars went for fourth down, and on that play, Lawrence dropped the ball while rolling out and Fletcher Cox recovered for Philadelphia. The possession came to an end near midfield, and the Eagles — instead of trailing 21-0 — now take over in excellent field position.

That's the end of a really good opening quarter for the Jags.
1:32 p.m. | Jaguars' pass rush forces turnover on downs
Jalen Hurts sparked the Eagles' drive from the start with a 31-yard catch-and-run to wide receiver A.J. Brown. But the Jaguars' defense held firm, stuffing a third-down rush and hurrying Hurts into an incompletion on fourth down when Josh Allen and Travon Walker broke into the backfield.
The Jacksonville offense takes over on downs at the Jaguars' 40.
1:25 p.m. | Touchdown Jaguars: Jamal Agnew in end zone as Jags extend lead
Even a fumble can't stop this Jacksonville offense right now.A James Robinson rush and a Trevor Lawrence pass to a leaping Jamal Agnew brought the Jaguars to the midfield stripe. Then, a neatly-designed roll-out pass to Dan Arnold picked up a 26-yard chunk to near the red zone.
From there, Robinson lost the handle on a rush inside the 5, but Christian Kirk recovered the loose football. That set up another superb play for the Jags, deploying Agnew in the backfield and sending him outside to catch a 4-yard TD pass from Lawrence.
Jaguars 14, Eagles 0, 3:50 1st.
1:18 p.m. | Jaguars' defense stuffs Philadelphia again
This defense is off to a solid start. Rayshawn Jenkins breaks up a third-down pass by Jalen Hurts and the Eagles punt it away again. Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars will go to work from their own 20.
1:10 p.m. | Pick-six! Andre Cisco takes interception back for Jaguars TD
There's the biggest play so far by Andre Cisco in a Jaguars uniform. The Jaguars' safety was in the right spot when Darious Williams blew up a pass into traffic, and the second-year DB weaved through Eagles to take the ball back 59 yards to the end zone.
At the start of the drive, Eagles coach Nick Sirianni showed that he'sin gambling mode today. He kept the offense on the field for fourth-and-1 at Philadelphia's own 31, and Jalen Hurts rewarded that boldness by sneaking for the first down.
Score another big play for Team Takeaway.
