Whether working with Mr. Matthew Wong, Senior Clinical Pharmacist, or Mrs. Anna Helbig, Director of Human Resources, Aurora Health and the Elkhorn Area School continue to work collaboratively to connect students interested in the health sciences pathway to gain a competitive advantage in the field, explore viable career options, and earn and learn simultaneously. It is with sincere appreciation that we honor Davis Landscaping with this award, recognizing your dedication to making our schools a better place.
“Working with these students has helped our company grow from within. It’s these students who are the future of our working class, and in teaching them I have found my leaders as well as myself getting just as much out of this as the students. Watching them find their niches within our company has been great!” – Mike Davis
Milestone Plumbing, Scott Kramm and Jess Cannizzarro – It’s not every day that students get real hands-on experience working in residential and small commercial plumbing. But Scott Kramm at Milestone plumbing has made this happen through the Youth Apprenticeship program. Evan Saxe completed over 500 hours at Milestone Plumbing, received and accepted an offer to continue on full-time as a plumbing apprentice. This has been an excellent partnership and we are excited to see Evan continue with Milestone and what other students take on this role in the future.

Greendale
Tudor Oaks – When students want to begin their healthcare careers, it is very common for them to start in a long-term care facility after earning their State Nursing Assistant certificate. Tudor Oaks has welcomed several of our students into the healthcare field and have given them the support they need to be successful. They have also done what is needed to be a clinicals host site for our Consortium CNA Lab. This is crucially important as it provides our students the chance to complete the CNA work closer to where they live and it usually leads to the CNAs wanting to work there. A win-win for Tudor Oaks and our Consortium!
Brentwood – If you are in high school and interested in being a veterinarian, seeking out a job in an animal care facility makes sense. The problem is that almost all of them require a student to be 18 to get paid. Brentwood does not have that rule and has opened its doors to our Vet Science Youth Apprentices. They have enjoyed working with all kinds of animals, assisting with the “patient” in the room and conversing with the owners. An all-around great experience.
Gateway Technical College – When we needed them the most, they came through. Because of our strong Health Science Pathways, like at Greendale HS, we generate several students who wish to complete their CNA State Certification. We have worked with other providers, but GTC came when the demand for CNA seats exploded. With their help, we had 19 students complete their CNA with 100% success this summer. Looking forward to building on this partnership. The School of Health and the Nursing Home Department, along with the Director of High School Partnerships are incredible to work with.

Doral Corporation – Working in a manufacturing setting can be intimidating, especially for a high school student who is just getting started. Having a mentor there can really help. Mr. Kurt Gunderson and his team did just that for Charles Jones, a 2023 graduate from Youth Apprenticeship. Through his time there, Charles learned about various tools of the trade, materials and got to weld. Kurt and his team are excellent mentors and we are fortunate to have a partnership with them and Doral.
Huckstorf – Being able to learn about diesel mechanics is something that most high school students can only dream about. Mark Huckstorf and his crew made it a reality for Class of 2023 Mason Springer. They sponsored Mason in his last semester where he learned quite a bit. I am sure that Mason’s plan for this fall, to become a certified technician, was fueled in part by his work with Mark.

Culver’s Johnson Creek – Chazz and his team at Culver’s provide significant support behind the scenes. He donated his outdoor dining tables when the restaurant remodeled, that are now greatly enjoyed at our sporting events while attendees consume concessions. He also donates condiments and more, whatever’s needed anytime, always with a smile.
Compeer Financial – Compeer supports the Elementary School both in time and financial donations, particularly around the Winter Holidays, bringing great joy without ever taking the spotlight for themselves.
